The Cathedral

Culture, Economy, Media, Poetry, Religion, The Life of the Mind

Last at the altar, first to the door, the pale
young priest asks his congregants which they’ll embrace:
salvation by good twerks or Nancy Grace?
Their googling eyes flick through wikis; fail-
ing to find a clear consensus, they derail
the sermon: what does father think about race-
derived intelligence, or the reptilian face
beneath the POTUS’ hack-job human veil?
Oh gods, make us less chaste, make us less poor,
and do it now; the undeserving have
converted their unworthiness to cash
unbacked except by unearned faith, no more
than gold—though not gold standard—golden calves;
we’ll skip the sackcloth but accept the ash.

  1. Well, … that, and, here is another ‘thing’: the US has no business trying to ‘set up shop’ elsewhere in the ‘galaxies’ until the US account for, and actually acknowledge those they have bled and fed off of; … sacrificed in order to “$urvive” …and Move On. (<period)

    1. (very sorry that my reflexive Dial Up eFussive didn’t cleary reflect my absolute joy (not being sarcastic here) at the fact that you pointed out a horrid truism so very clearly.

I did not intend to distract from what I suspect might be one of your main points: Most are not even aware that technology had come to a point where there are actually space missives which are actually able to return intact (source pic from http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/world/secret-us-space-plane-lands-after-nearly-two-years-in-orbit-20141018-1184fk.html )

Fitting that it landed just outside of stunningly poverty ridden, Los Angeles, California. Also ‘Funny’, about that image: no would ever suspect if they were not informed, that that seeming patchwork of ‘rare earths’ – the vehicle’s blinded and windowless ‘face’ brought to mind a mutant locust (grasshopper) – travelled anywhere without sputtering out of fuel, or blindly crashing into some Monsanto Corn Field on the the outskirts of Chicago Ill ‘n’ Noize.)

    2. (Sorry if duplicate,no one can ever tell whether a comment made on line ever reached the person it was addressed to. I’ve switched to a faux emailaddy whose ‘AVATAR FOR ME’ which no one is given a choice in (which is just one reason why I use faux email addresses) is usally in orange font:

    3. I’m bleakly, though with teeth showing, smiling … regarding the wonder of mammal timing.

Re: Space [Penii/Penal] Mining Missives commentary, … Priceless!:

10/28/14 Tuesday, Oct. 28 2014, 6:35 PM EDT Unmanned supply rocket for space station explodes on liftoff in Virginia

The spacecraft was carrying “some classified cryptographic equipment, so we do need to maintain the area around the debris in a secure manner,”

Millions of dollars incinerated in the blink of an eye. Millions which could have contributed in such a profoundly life saving way to those who will forever remain on the planet earth; those who have contributed far, far more to the betterment of humanity than the, Nazi Ridden – from its Operation Paperclip inception – NASA Space Program could ever possibly lay claim to.

As a matter of fact, that particular [NASA] program has no right whatsoever in laying claim towards any benefit for humanity at large.

      1. (yep, just a few daze later, it was yet another – appropriate for that particular day: bloodier and stunningly criminal – Hollow Weenie; Sir Dick, shooting lethal and even bloodier blanks.

Rest in sweet peace, Michael Alsbury.)

  2. Curious, since you are not only are an astounding poet, but, you also have an affinity for the violin, as to your thoughts on Fritz Kreisler translations and renditions ….particularly (not in a long thought about order):

    Liebesfreud (Love’s Joy)

    Liebesleid (Love’s Sorrow)

    Farewell to Cucullain (oH, daNNYBoY)

    1. yeah, that last one is likely to bring up On the Waterfront …even though that was a wop versus a mik or a juuu, et al …..

what a rich thick tone, and those those stunning harmonic …double string ….. though there appears to be only one ‘string’ there ….. almost like a cello or bass player who ended up ‘$tuck with’ a violin!

      1. yep, this one is for that stunningly loving couple who lived on that border of verona and oakmont … they taught life saving music for all who had an ear … they will live, for ever.

        ;0)
